Great and Small provides a number of services for your cat, catered to your need. Emily has experience with in-home, phone, and virtual cat behavior consultations to address an array of concerning behaviors. These issues include inappropriate elimination, multicat issues, human-directed aggression, destructive scratching, door-darting, hyperactivity, among others.

Contrary to popular belief, undesirable cat behavior is not something you have to live with. Cats learn and can be taught just like dogs or humans can. The key to modifying behavior is understanding your cat’s motivation and providing for their needs in a way that works for both the cat and the guardian. Emily’s goal is to gather as much information as possible about your cat and the household environment to help create a harmonious home for both you and your cat.

Private Consultations

Private Behavior Consultation: $100/hr
Phone Q&A: $25 (30-minute limit)
Any in-person services provided outside a 30-mile radius from Waukesha includes a $0.50/miles roundtrip travel charge.

Private behavior consultations are a great fit if your cat is displaying problematic behaviors that you are struggling to resolve. Destructive scratching, inappropriate elimination, aggression, and cat-cat introductions are all good reasons to recruit Emily to help. After gathering some initial background information on your cat’s habits, Emily will sit down with you for about an hour to go over the information, ask questions, and come up with a behavior plan. Emily does not need to see the problem behavior firsthand, though you are welcome to provide video. Private consultations can be done over the phone or virtually at this time.

Behavior change is a process. Emily recommends follow-up sessions to assure that you are continuing to see progress and to address any concerns that may come up along the way. Each cat is an individual and responds to various interventions differently. It is important, then, to keep in contact and tweak behavior programs to fit the individual cat as needed. Emily will do all she can to check in and make sure you’re on the right track, and she asks that you keep her notified of any important changes- good or bad!

Behavior consultations are the best way to address problem behaviors, though Emily also offers brief Q&A phone conversations, limited to 30 minutes. This is meant to address any immediately behavioral questions and to offer more generic advice. Should issues persist after this discussion, a private behavior consultation is strongly encouraged.

Complete the consultation questionnaire and Emily will contact you to schedule an appointment.
